I find it a bit sluggish to import images into the catalog, having to click back and forth between the name of the camera, the location of the file on the MAC, the size and color space of the image, anything additional tabs like Lightroom 4 require you to go through (like Print, Export to web, local, and so on.)
There is a “smart previews” check box in the tools panel (RGB/CMYK), which when selected show up in the LR5 tools sidebar (also shown in the screenshot I posted in the section pertaining to “Adobe Photoshop Review”).
2) If you select smart previews in the sidebar (HDR, Exposure, Contrast, Tone Curve, etc.), you can specify which of the smart previews (including the ones you will most commonly use) to show: make sure to click the “X” in the corner of each box to remove it.
3) Below the preview tool, you will see a small arrow in the tool buttons (in the screenshot, “Open in Editor”). This will open the image in the editor, if you uncheck preview (or click it closed).
Just think about that for a moment…. A photo editor that requires a reader to open it. I use Lightroom for years and reload images to preview them. Photoshop needs a reader to open it? This shows how far Adobe has fallen. The Adobe software has become so bloated and buggy that the company can no longer create attractive software for newbies. It also causes problems for experienced users who need to research their problems because their mysterious computer now can’t recall the previous version. Maybe it’s time to look elsewhere and consider what is good in other photo editing software that doesn’t need to be scripted into a computer.
